Two Myanmarese nationals have been arrested after more than eight lakh crystal methamphetamine tablets were seized during a joint drug operation by Mizoram Police and Assam Rifles on Thursday.

The haul, estimated to have been worth Rs 17 crores were seized from these Myanmarese nationals along with two vehicles.

Police sources said that the apprehended were taken into police custody for interrogation.

The drugs, also known as ‘party drug’ or ‘crystal meth’ is worth around Rs 184.50 lakh in the local market.

Sources said the drugs were smuggled from Myanmar.

Authorities said that the latest crystal methamphetamine seizure is the largest haul of its type in Mizoram.

On April 6 last, Mizoram Police had seized 73,800 tablets of methamphetamine near the Mizoram-Assam border and arrested three persons, all of them from neighbouring Manipur.
