Congress spokesperson, Lallianchhunga said that on behalf of Mizoram the party will engage in a ‘do or die battle’ if this CAB 2016 is put up again because it is very detrimental to the interest of the Mizo people, he added.

“That’s why I want to say that the BJP and its leaders should learn about the Northeast and its people first before they reintroduce this bill,” said the party spokesperson.

Not only the Indian democracy is in danger, the unity of India will be in danger if the bill is passed because it will work against the very interest of India in general and the state of Mizoram in particular, said Lallianchhunga.

In a rally organized by Bharti Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) on Sunday, Amit Shah had said the CAB 2016 will be brought up again if the party is reinstated to power.

The Congress spokesperson, Lallianchhunga said, “The Congress has been opposing this bill very strongly both at the national and state level. However, only the state of Assam was mentioned when the BJP leader spoke on the CAB but ignored the states of Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland. This shows his lack of understanding of his people.

The Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee also released a statement on the same saying they find it appalling that Amit Shah can make such comments in the Northeast area where the people have organized huge protests and are greatly opposed to the bill.

It shows that BJP does not understand the sentiments of the Northeast people, and does not give us any importance. It also shows that the Central Government does not understand how the influx of immigrants could affect the people of Northeast, they said.

We are greatly hurt by such insensitive statements from the BJP national president who has ignored the plight of the Mizos and their organization of mass prayers and protests under the Joint NGO said the Mizoram Congress Committee. This shows that BJP and its partner parties have to be thrown out of power in the upcoming election to be safe from the bill, they added.
