Several organisations and civil societies of the state have condemned the brutal massacre of Tuesday in which Khonsa West MLA Tirong Aboh, his son and nine others lost their precious lives.

The state unit of Janata Dal United (JDU) said that such barbaric attack and assassination of an MLA is an attack on the democratic setup of the country.

The JDU appealed to the state and central government to immediately send sufficient forces to combat and eliminate the anti-social and underground elements from the society and state.

“Late Aboh was reportedly facing serious security threats from time he began his election campaign. One of his supporters was assassinated by an extremist group. Knowing the fact, the chief secretary and DIG did not provide adequate security to the candidate,” the organization said.

The NIHRO further alleged that the present state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu is unable to contain the political violence and is giving upper hand to extremist groups.

“This is a serious concern for the people of State,” the organization said.

The state unit of NPP which sat for an emergency meeting on Wednesday requested the state government to provide sufficient security personnel to protect the life of NPP MLA candidates and party leaders in the state.

The party opined that the militant groups are targeting only the NPP candidates and party leaders.

The NPP further appealed to the people of Arunachal, particularly to those of the Tirap, Changlang and Longding region to extend full support to the State police and paramilitary forces during investigation and operation against the militant groups so that the accused involved in the case is traced out.

While deeply mourning the assassination of MLA Aboh and 10 others, the Galo Peoples’ Front (GPF) today vociferously condemned the dastardly act of the militant group involved in it.

It appealed the governments both at the Centre and state to take strongest steps to tow away the evils and their diabolical designs from the peaceful state of Arunachal.

Citing the incident as an eye opener for all inclusive of politicians, their supporters, voters, government officials and the common public, the GPF expressed a grim concern over the inroads of militancy in politics of Arunachal that too allegedly from the neighboring state of Nagaland.

Democracy is being tried to be overrun with money and guns by some greedy politicians that must be dissuaded and discouraged by every citizen of Arunachal, the organisation said.

Praying for eternal peace for the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families, the GPF further appealed the government to take strong and concrete actions against the perpetrators.

The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Seva Dal (APCSD) and Arunachal Pradesh Congress Young Brigade Seva Dal also deeply mourned the demise of MLA Aboh and others.
