In another development into the sensational Jugdol murder case, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh to anyone who can provide substantial and specific leads into the mass murder case.
Informing about the cash reward, a senior CID official said that, “Depending on the nature of tip-off or leads provided, the CID has decided to reward the informant up to Rs 10 lakh. The person may directly contact the SP and the DIG of the CID. Their identity would be kept secret.”

“We have a strong feeling that many hidden facets of the case are yet to come out. The cash reward will serve as an incentive and we are optimistic about the outcome,” the official said.
Meanwhile, human semen specimen retrieved from the Forensic Science Laboratory, Kahilipara after nearly eight years and sent to Gujarat for further examination could not yield any positive results.
The sample size of the semen specimen was found insufficient for DNA profiling.

Moreover, the transfer of Raunak Ali Hazarika, the Deputy Inspector General of CID, who has started supervising the Jugdol mass murder case, has once again raised eyebrows.
Hazarika, who was posted in the CID in August, 2016 has been replaced by Debajit Hazarika, who was attached with the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
This is not the first time a senior police official monitoring the case has been transferred apparently without paying any heed to the course of the investigation.
On an earlier occasion, when the Jogdal murder case was in a very crucial stage, the then Superintendent of Police of the CID, D D Malakar was abruptly transferred.
Meanwhile, official sources informed that the team of investigators is working relentless to identify the killers and several new facets of the case are being probed.
