The 20th meeting of the Central Building and Other Construction Worker’s Advisory Committee (CAC) was held on Thursday at the Circuit House in Guwahati with a day-long programme. This was stated in an official press release.
The meeting was chaired by Vedurlapally Srinavasa Naidu, the chairman of the Committee.
Speaking on the occasion, the chairman of CAC, V S Naidu stressed on registration of all the building and construction workers in all the north-eastern states and for proper implementation of the specified welfare schemes for the registered workers under Building and Other Construction Worker’s Welfare Act, 1996.
The meeting elaborately reviewed the status of registration of building and construction workers, amount of cess collected and amount spent for the welfare schemes.
The meeting further reviewed the information provided by the state welfare boards of all the states of the north-eastern region.
The meeting was attended by the member of the CAC Madhusudhan Mistry, secretary to the CAC J S Siddhu, all the Labour Commissioners from all the north-eastern states and chairmen of various state welfare boards, the release added.
