The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) the business community in Dimapur may be forced to shut down entire businesses due to multiple-taxation.
In a press release, DCCI, appealed to the Nagaland government to immediately intervene and take corrective measures.
The release said the business community of the commercial hub of the state is totally aghast with the ‘uncountable and uncontrolled illegal collection spree’ by various Naga political groups on business community in the form of yearly tax, agency tax, gate tax, transport tax, dealership, item wise tax and syndicate fees being collected by various groups.
“In simple words 10-15 taxes are being paid on every item,” the DCCI rued.
Maintaining that nowhere in the world can business thrive, such illegal multiple-taxation, the DCCI said all kinds of business in Dimapur have become unsustainable except the illegal collection business and added that the business community has become totally insecure because of threat, intimidation and overburdened and unable to pay such illegal collection.
