Reviewing law and order and security situation in Dimapur in Commissioner of Police office in Dimpaur on Thursday, the DGP also directed that mobile vehicle patrols and the QRTs be fitted with car dash-cameras by April 9, a Nagaland police release said on Friday evening. He also informed that more CCTV cameras would be installed in Dimapur in the coming days among other security measures.

Intermittent cases of extortion and shooting besides abduction of businessmen are reported in the state, especially in Dimapur and Kohima. Businessmen and government servants, barring security forces and police, are victims of extortion.

Though there is a clear direction to Commissioner of Police (CP), Dimapur and the district superintendents of police (SPs) to register criminal cases against any group, factions or individuals making illegal demands which are accompanied by fear, threat, intimidation or coercion, there seems to be no let up in extortion cases in the state.
