In a major haul, personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) seized 3,350 kgs of dry ganja and 130 kgs ganja seeds having a market value of Rs 1,68,80, 000 kept in a clandestine way, concealed under the mud from village Kamalnagar, under Sonamura police station in Sepahijala of Tripura during a 14 hours long operation on August 1 and 2.

One of the biggest breakthroughs was based on information of BSF Intelligence Branch of Sector Gokulnagar and DSP DIB Bishramganj, DC (G) Gokulnagar with troops of 74 Bn BSF, DRI Agartala, DIB Sepahijala and SDPO Sonamura.

During phases of operation, firstly the house of one Delowar Hussian (48 yrs), S/O Chand Miya, a resident of Kamalnagar village under Sonamura police station, was searched leading to the recovery of 37 plastic drums of assorted size, filled with 1,200 kgs of dry ganja.

Plastic drums were found kept in a clandestine way, concealed under the mud.

The operation lasted from 10:30 pm to 5:30 am (ie, the intervening night of August 1 and 2).

On the second phase of the operation, on searching and digging of complete row in the neighbouring bettlenut plantation belonging to one Ali Hussain, aged around 40 years recovered 51 plastic drums buried inside in straight line of 100 feet, containing dry ganja in 47 drums and ganja seeds in three drums (2150 kgs dry ganja and 130 kgs of ganja seeds).

In both the seizure, the joint operations party collectively acted and succeeded to track and seized 3350 kgs dry ganja and 130 kgs ganja seeds having a collective value of Rs 1,68,80,000.

It was learned that Delowiar Hussain and Ali Hussain stored dry ganja illegally for smuggling from India to Bangladesh.

Later the both Delowar Hussain and Ali Hussian were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act, 1985) by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).

The seized items were also handed over to DRI, Agartala.
