The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) on Wednesday said that boarding passes of passengers won’t be stamped by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel during the pre-embarkation security check (PESC) at airports.
As per reports, all airport operators have also been asked to ensure that there are adequate numbers of CCTV cameras at an appropriate height in the PESC area.

These CCTV cameras will be used to record the identity of a passenger and for the verification of the details in their boarding passes.
“It has been decided to dispense with the procedure of stamping the passengers’ boarding pass that is being done by Aviation Security Group (ASG)/Airport Security Unit (APSU) after completion of PESC of the concerned passenger, till further orders,” the BCAS stated.
The airport operator shall ensure that the requisite monitoring system of high definition fixed CCTV Cameras and supporting infrastructure are maintained all through at PESC points at an appropriate height so that boarding pass of the passenger and his/her identity are digitally recorded,” it added.

The BCAS order also stated that the CCTV recordings of each passenger will be preserved for a period of 30 days.
The order comes at a time when the number of coronavirus cases in the country is increasing.
The total number of coronavirus cases in India increased to 78003 on Wednesday.
The death toll due to coronavirus in the country is 2549 so far and the number of active cases is 49219.
