Jorhat Municipal Board ward commissioner Ankur Gupta in a proactive move has undertaken registration of APL people under the Assam Government’s Atal Amrit Abhiyan at Laxmi Silk House, which is owned by him at Kosuri Gully here.
People, whose annual family income is in between Rs 1.2 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, can avail the benefits of cashless treatment up to Rs 2 lakh of certain diseases in empanelled hospitals under the Abhiyan.

Earlier, BPL category people have already been registered in the State under Atal Amrit Abhiyan.
Prior to this, Gupta had initiated the process at the Chamber Bhawan, headquarters of Upper Assam Chamber of Commerce where the people belonging to ward numbers 6 and 7 were registered.
Gupta said that he was obliged to the Upper Assam Chamber of Commerce (UACC) for allowing him get the people registered at their complex where more than 2500 people availed the benefit in one week.

In his own shop, people from other wards can also avail the Atal Amrit Abhiyan’s laminated photo ID card after giving their biometrics and showing their voter IDs or Aadhaar cards as proof of address as well as depositing Rs 100.
Promoted as the State’s ambitious health assurance scheme for the underprivileged, the Abhiyan aims to reduce the prohibitive expenses incurred by an individual suffering from chronic or acute diseases which may push a household to penury.
The ambitious scheme provides comprehensive coverage and cashless treatment benefits up to Rs. 2 lakh to every individual from BPL and low income households across Assam for treatment of six commonly prevalent and high cost disease groups, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, kidney diseases, neurological conditions, neonatal diseases and burns.
The scheme provides coverage for 438 approved procedures within the six specialties.
Atal Amrit Abhiyan scheme is cashless at the point of delivery and the cashless transaction is facilitated by laminated card with a unique identification number for each adult member of the eligible family.
Every eligible minor is enrolled within the card of the head of his or her family.
The empanelled hospitals in Assam include Jorhat Medical College & Hospital (JMCH), Assam Medical College & Hospital (AMCH), Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), GNRC Hospitals, B Barooah Cancer Institute, Aditya Diagnostics, Dibrugarh, Apollo Hospitals among others.
The scheme also allows airfare up to Rs 30,000 for patients and attendants for treatment outside Assam and daily Rs 300 for travel within Assam for hospital visits up to Rs 3000.
It also gives daily allowance of Rs 1000, up to a limit.
Gupta, who belongs to the ruling BJP, was the first to suggest online registration of births and deaths by the Jorhat Municipal Board and tried to get it implemented through the office of the Prime Minister.
?Gupta has also revealed a few lacunae in the operation of the Board’s functioning.
