Under the State government’s Atal Amrit Abhiyan – an ambitious health assurance scheme of the government of Assam – a total of 121 beneficiaries in Udalguri district were distributed cheques during a special distribution ceremony in the office of the Udalguri Development Block on Sunday.
Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Executive Member, Shyam Sundi, graced the event as the Chief Guest and ceremoniously distributed the cheques.

Speaking on the occasion, BTC EM Sundi termed the Atal Amrit Abhiyan as a revolutionary one which would go a long way in providing succour to the underprivileged sections of the society in fighting critical diseases.
Sundi urged the people of the area to take full benefits of the scheme.

Atal-Amrit Abhiyan is a comprehensive coverage for six commonly prevalent and high cost diseases involving 438 procedures under which every individual of every eligible family per annum will be entitled to financial benefits of Rs 2 lakh.
The EM exhorted the people to keep keen eye so that the genuine people are not deprived of the benefits of the scheme. The department concerned should also look into the matter, he added.
Sundi also appreciated the efforts of the State Health Department and the National Health Mission for translating the scheme into a reality.
The event, anchored by the District Programme Manager, NHM, N Goyari, was also attended by the District Project Co-ordinator, Bhaskarjyoti Manta.
Speaking on the occasion, Manta besides explaining about the scheme also apprised the gathering and health workers of the Ayushman Bharat a National Health Protection Scheme, which will cover over 10 crore poor and vulnerable families providing coverage up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.
