A 30-year-old software professional died two days after his wedding in Bihar from COVID-19.

Meanwhile, at least 95 guests, who attended the marriage, have now tested COVID-19 positive.

The wedding was held at a village in rural Patna’s Paliganj block on June 15 last.

The deceased groom used to work in Haryana’s Gurugram and had returned to his village on May 12, according to reports.

He had COVID-19-like symptoms.

Despite that, his family organized the wedding and that too with guests beyond the permissible limit.

Two days after the wedding, the symptoms worsened and his family rushed him to AIIMS-Patna for treatment.

However, he succumbed on the way.

Later, the family cremated the body without informing the district authorities.

Reports also stated a local anonymously informed the administration about the groom’s death.

Later samples of the deceased groom’s relatives and his neighbours were collected for testing.

A total of 15 people tested positive for COVID-19.

After this, the administration traced and collected samples from guests, who attended the wedding.

Of them, a total of 80 people tested positive.

Local residents said that when the groom developed COVID-19 like symptoms, his family took him to some quack for treatment and did not see a doctor or place him under quarantine.
