Informing the media about the protest programmes, president of United Karbi Students Association (UKSA), Ratan Terang at a press conference held at inspection bunglow of PHE, Diphu said examinations, water supply, milk, power and medical are exempted from the purview of the bandh.

Terang said even after the 24-hour bandh, if the KAAC do not respond to it then they will organize a bike rally in each Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency.

On failing to get any response, a torch light procession will be taken out in all 26 MAC constituencies.

Terang also said that Chakma Autonomous Council has prepared their own electoral roll whereas KAAC is not doing so.

“We have been demanding that KAAC a new council Act and Rule under Para-2 sub para-7 (a&b) of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India and prepare a new electoral roll under para-20 of the Sixth Schedule. Also we have been appealing many a times to fulfill our demands but the KAAC authority did not pay any heed to us,” said adviser of Sixth Schedule Implementation Committee (SSIC), JI Kathar.

Kathar also alleged that public representative such as MP, MLAs and KAAC, chief executive members of KAAC are silent over the issue, so we are going against them.
