In his official Twitter handle, the singing sensation wrote:

Wrote a letter to you few days back. Guess you are too busy counting the black flags to respond.

So, can I get the votes back that you earned using my voice in 2016?

I am ready to refund the remuneration.’

This surprise decision came in the light of the widespread protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 across the State.

Notably, Zubeen had written an open letter to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal a few days back voicing his protest against the contentious citizenship bill.

In the emotionally charged letter, Zubeen had urged the State Chief Minister to rise to the occasion and stand in support of the sentiments of the people of the State and the Northeast.

In Sunday’s tweet, Zubeen was quite critical over the stoic silence that Sonowal has been maintaining, who was hailed as the champion of the Assamese people.
