A 30-year-old youth was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly stalking four girl students of Bajali College here. The accused, Abdul Mazid is a resident of Islampur near Pathsala town, and was nabbed by Pathsala police from near Bajlai College.

The police said the accused, who was on a Swift Dzire car (registration number AS 01 DK 9252) followed the four girls when they were returning home.

“The accused stopped the girls and passed lewd comments at them. He also forced the girls to embark on his vehicle. When they refused to get into his car, he started following them,” students of the college alleged.

The girls immediately altered some students of the college who caught him and later handed over to the police. The Bajali College Students’ Union has lodged an FIR with Pathsala Sadar police station in connection with the incident.

The Bajali College units of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Praishad (AJYCP) and All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) have demanded strict action against the accused.
