About 40 women of Guwahati will run a distance of 10 km from Navagraha Temple to Kamakhya Temple in the early morning hours on Sunday.
The run is being organised by the organisers of Pinkathon Women’s Run event to be held in Guwahati on September 30, 2018.
Pinkathon is promoted by former supermodel Milind Soman with an objective of promoting women’s health and create awareness about breast cancer.
It may be mentioned that around 30 visually impaired girls including women of different age groups will run in the fourth edition of Pinkathon Guwahati 2018 on September 30, 2018.
The Pinkathon aims to create awareness about breast cancer among women. It is categorized in four group including 3 km, 5 km, 10 km and 21 km.
The visually impaired girls will be trained by experts.
Announcing the launch of the event with the motto ‘Health for every woman’ during a press conference in Guwahati on August 27, 2018, Pinkathon founder Milind Soman said, “Pinkathon is India’s biggest women’s run. Usually women ignore their health condition. The objective of event is to make the women aware about their health.”
“We are committed to encourage progress of women and move forward in life. Pinkathon is to boost confidence of women and strengthen the belief that women can do wonders,” Soman had said.
Expressing delight on the launch of the fourth edition of the event, Soman said, “It is not only a marathon but also a movement that is being carried forward by a growing community of empowered women across India.”
Emphasizing the need to empower women, Soman said, “Empowerment is not a gift of society. It is a gift you give yourself.”
