A  Mizoram tea is all set to make its debut at auctions here in Guwahati.

The garden, Liansiam, in Mizoram’s Champhai district, will sell tea under the Thingpui mark.

The garden, Liansiam, in Mizoram’s Champhai district, will sell tea under the Thingpui mark. Thingpui means tea in the Mizo language. The garden is situated 130km from Aizawl, 4,500 feet above the sea level.

Public tea auctions have played a key role as the main vehicle for primary marketing of tea in India.

This Mizoram garden makes premium, exclusive green and orthodox tea and hopes for a good response from the buyers.

The garden is offering various grades of orthodox tea in the auctions. The tea will be sold by J Thomas, the oldest and largest tea brokerage in the world.

So far, teas from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh,Tripura and Meghalaya have been sold in the auctions.

The garden is spread around 22 hectares and has a factory which is the first registered factory in the state under Tea Board of India. The garden is all set to become organic soon, reports The Telegraph.

The company has hired experts from Assam and Darjeeling to make the best tea.
