The Assam government has decided to open the wine shops in the green zones across the state from Saturday.

This was informed to Northeast Now by Shailendra Pandey, public relation officer to the state excise minister.

“The customers will have to maintain a distance of 6 feet in front of wine shops while making their purchase,” Pandey further informed.

“The prices of the various liquor brands will remain same as before and we have decided not to raise it as of now,” Pandey added.

Reportedly, the Centre on Friday said that wine shops across India will be allowed to open in the green zones w.e.f Monday.

Not more than five persons will be allowed to gather in front of the wine shops and consumption of alcohol in public places has also been strictly prohibited.
