A Winger vehicle was set on fire allegedly by angry locals after it hit a school child who received serious injuries in the mishap at Elaisijahar Chandrapara area under Kokrajhar Police Station on Thursday.

As per information, 13-year-old Bikas Mushahary, a class VII student of Onthaigwlao Bathou Ashram, son of Lahit Mushahary, a resident of Kaoabil Chandamari in Kokrajhar, was seriously injured when he was hit by a speeding vehicle at Elaisijahar Chandrapara area on Thursday at around 2.30 pm.

According to police, the boy was on the way back home from his school when he was hit by a speeding Winger vehicle (AS 01BC 0332) seriously injuring him. He was dragged away by the vehicle around 100 metres.

Police suspect angry locals might have set the vehicle on fire after the in road mishap.

Police and fire brigade personnel immediately reached the spot and doused the flames.

Police also said that investigation is going on regarding the incident.

The injured school student was immediately admitted to a hospital.

Seriously-injured Bikash said, “I was on the way home riding my bicycle after my classes were over and suddenly a speeding Winger vehicle, which was coming from Kokrajhar town side, hit my bicycle in which I received serious injuries. Both my legs and hands have been fractured I fell down. Someone brought me to the hospital.”
