A hardcore ULFA (I) rebel has surrendered before the police in Arunachal Pradesh. The surrendered ULFA (I) rebel has been identified self-styled lieutenant Udgiran Asom and he surrendered before the Laju police in the Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.

He was handed over to Assam police on Friday.

According to police sources, after interrogation, the Arunachal Pradesh police handed over the ULFA (I) militant to Assam police on Friday. He underwent training in Myanmar.

Police claimed Udgiran Asom’s surrender was yet another jolt for the insurgents group.

Sources said that Udgiran was working under self-styled major general Jivan Moran. He hails from Nalbari district of Assam. Moran is the second in command of ULFA (I) after commander in chief Paresh Baruah.
