Two youths from Assam were injured in a firing incident at Kimin along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border in the Lakhimpur district.

The incident took place on Monday evening when two masked men fired indiscriminately targeting at BM Hotel in Kimin before running fast towards Assam side in Lakhimpur district.

The injured have been identified as Jayanta Tanti, the manager of the hotel and Shiva Mallick, a waiter.

Both of them are from Lakhimpur district.

The injured have been shifted to TRIHMS hospital in Naharlagan.

Meanwhile, the Lakhimpur district units of the All Adivasi Students Association of Assam (AASAA) and All Assam Tea Tribes Students Association (AATTSA) blocked the Pohumora-Kimin PWD road in Dejo Tea Estate demanding safety of the people from Assam working in Arunachal Pradesh.

They were later restrained by Lakhimpur superintendent of police Longnit Teron and a team of police personnel from North Lakhimpur.
