Two Assamese actors- Arindita Kalita and Arnav Timsina- will be making their Bollywood debut with the movie ‘Bunker’ which releases on January 17 across India.

Directed by Jugal Raja, ‘Bunker’ tries to bring out the emotional quotient of an army soldier’s life and focuses on the lives of several officers serving in the army.

Arindita, who previously has acted in a number of ad films, will essay the character of Swara Singh- wife of an Indian army officer.

“I was looking beyond ad films and was approached to play the lead in Bunker. When I heard the script, I knew in my heart this was a role I had to play,” a release quoting the actor said.

“I play Swara Singh in the movie, wife of Lt Vikram Singh. The role allowed me to delve deeper into my character and play a range of emotions,” she further said.

The actor had completed her Bachelors in Fashion and Apparel Designing from JD Institute in Delhi and also did her Bachelors in Sociology.

She also has a Visharad degree in Bharatnatyam and has over seven years of experience in the field of dance.

Arnav Timsina, on the other hand, will be essaying the character of Sukhram in the movie.

“It was by the stroke of luck that I got the role,” the release added quoting the actor.

“The actor who was originally supposed to play Sukhram backed out,” the young actor further said.

“Jugal Raja, while scrolling the chats found my number and called me for a meeting late at night one day before shooting was supposed to start, and I was immediately selected for the role,” Arnav added.

Sharing his views on choosing the two Assamese actors, director Jugal Raja said, “Choosing Arindita was an automatic choice, as I knew she was perfect for the role.”

“I explained the role to her and she knew what she had to bring to make the character alive,” he added.

“Arnav was a last-minute replacement in the film, but proved to be a blessing as he not only gave his 100 per cent but also played the part of Sukhram beautifully,” he said.

National award-winning singer Rekha Bhardwaj has lent her voice for a peace anthem Lautke Ghar Jaana Hai.

Jugal Raja had previously worked in films like ‘Shortcut Romeo’ starring Neil Nitin Mukesh and ‘Zila Ghaziabad’ starring Sanjay Dutt.

He is hopeful that the people will love the movie.
