To mark the 69th Van Mahotsav celebrations across the State, the Hojai District Truck Transport Workers’ Union in association with the Hojai Forest Department planted several saplings at the Gandhi Vidyapith High School campus and the Gandhi Vidyapith High School Road in Hojai on Saturday.
The Head Master of Gandhi Vidyapith High School, Alok Gupta, officer-in-charge of Hojai PS, Kiteshwar Baniya, the general secretary of the Hojai district unit of Jamiat Ulama, Fakhar Qazmi and members of the Hojai District Truck Transport Workers’ Union were present on this occasion.

It is to be mentioned the Hojai District Truck Transport Workers’ Union has been involved in various social welfare activities and also provide financial aid to the needy and talented students who are deprived of higher studies due of financial crisis.
The 69th Van Mahotsav has been celebrated in various parts of Assam. The 69th Van Mahotsav was celebrated from July 1, 2018 to July 7, 2018. During the Van Mahotsav, a large number of saplings were planted across the State by various nature-loving organizations, Forest Department and also schools to promote tree plantation for keeping the earth clean and green.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also urged the people of the State to take plantation as a service to the society.
The Chief Minister while attending the 69th Ban Mahotsav celebration at Silchang in Morigaon district on Saturday also called upon the people to take up plantation as a humanitarian cause and plant maximum saplings within the compound of their Houses.
The State level Van Mahotsav celebration, which started on July 1 and ended on July 7, was organised by the Environment and Forest Department, Government of Assam.
