Five more cured COVID19 patients, including Spanish Garden’s Manish Tibrewal, were discharged from the hospitals in Assam on Sunday.

Manish Tibrewal was discharged from Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) in the presence of Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his deputy Pijush Hazarika.

Four other COVID19 patients were discharged from Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) at Panbazar in Guwahati.

The discharge was also monitored by the health minister and his deputy.

Tibrewal was admitted to the hospital on April 1, 2020.

The doctors found his samples positive for COVID19 in the five days after his admission.

But he was declared cured by the doctors of GMCH as his samples tested negative for COVID19 for four times.

“His samples tested negative at GMCH on April 8, 9, 17 and 18,” said health minister Sarma on Sunday, adding, “His sample was also tested today before his discharge and the report came negative. The doctors said his chest X-ray was found normal.”

Stating that he will be kept under observation of the health department, the minister said, “He will be able to reach his home as soon as the tag of ‘containment zone’ is removed from Spanish Garden.”

The COVID19 patients discharged from MMCH are Ashraf Ali (Hatsingimari), Md Shahrukh, Jamila Khatun, and Mafiz Uddin.

The health minister informed that the samples of four of these patients tested negative for COVID19 on April 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18.

Besides, their X-ray reports have also been found normal.

“There is no complicacy in their blood samples. So they have been discharged from the hospital today,” minister Sarma said.

He also said like Tibrewal, they will remain under the observation of the health department for 14 more days.

Assam registered a total of 34 COVID19 positive patients out of which one patient died of complicacy after infection.

Till Saturday the number of discharged COVID19 patients in Assam was 12 and on Sunday, it reached 17.

The minister said two more patients in the state – one in Lakhimpur Civil Hospital and another in Sonapur Civil Hospital – are likely to be discharged from the hospital.
