The COVID-19 cases in Assam rose to 56 on Friday after three more persons in Cachar district tested positive.
These people were on the bus that had travelled from Ajmer in Rajasthan to Cachar carrying around 45 pilgrims.
“Alert! 3 more persons, who travelled in the bus from Rajasthan in which the Cachar dist #COVID19 + person travelled, have tested positive,” tweeted Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

On Thursday, eight people tested positive for COVID-19 in Assam, taking the total number of cases in the state to 53.
Among the 8 people who tested positive, 4 were from Guwahati and four were from Cachar who had travelled on the same bus from Ajmer in Rajasthan, in which the coronavirus positive man from Sonitpur district travelled.
Following the four positive cases in Guwahati, three areas in the city have been declared as containment zones.
