Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday released the second volume journal of State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA) in Guwahati.

SITA vice-chairman Dipok Kumar Borthakur and two of its advisors Mridul Hazarika and KM Bujarbarua were also present at the release.

The journal christened ‘Thought Process: Points to Ponder’ is an attempt on the part of SITA to stimulate the minds of the readers with innovative thoughts for bringing about improvement in the quality of lives in the lower echelon of the economic and social structure.

Thanking the SITA team for bringing out the second edition of its journal, Sonowal asked Dipok Borthakur to earmark the priority sectors of the state and lend its expertise to aid the government to bolster the process of development of the state.

He also said that amid COVID-19 pandemic, though the state along with other parts of the country has experienced a slump in development, SITA will have to take the lead in drawing a roadmap for the government to convert slump into development.

He also asked SITA to take steps to promote and build digital empowerment narrative in the state especially in rural areas.

CM Sonowal also said that in the backdrop of COVID-19 pandemic when the conventional methods of imparting classroom teachings remain suspended, digital technology appeared to be a viable alternative to classroom teachings.

He, therefore, asked SITA to take steps to empower the educational institutions especially in the rural areas in the areas of digital technology.

He also asked SITA to sustain and expedite its innovative role to send across the message of social and economic empowerment narrative across all spectrum of the society.
