16 new COVID-19 cases push Mizoram’s tally to 2,245

Mizoram on Saturday reported 16 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the state’s tally to 2,245, an official said.

The number of active cases now stands at 112 while 2,133 people have already recovered from the virus, the official said.

Of the 16 new cases, 11 cases were reported from Aizawl district, 2 from Lawngtlai district and one case each was reported from Kolasib, Saitual and Champhai districts, he said.

14 patients- 11 in Aizawl, 2 in Lawngtlai and one in Serchhip district, have no travel history and were diagnosed during contact tracing and nine of them were yet to be ascertained how they contracted the virus, he said.

Two patients from Champhai and Saitual districts have returned from Tripura and Assam, he said.

The official added that all the patients comprising 5 males and 11 females are out of danger and majority of them are asymptomatic.

Mizoram has not reported any fatality due to COVID-19 till date.

Altogether, 95,287 samples have been tested including 1,703 samples on Friday.
