Air Commodore Venkat T Mare

Air Commodore Venkat T Mare has taken over as Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of Air Force Station, Guwahati.

Mare took charge as AOC Air Force Station Borjhar from Air Commodore Shashank Misra on Monday, said defence PRO Lt Col P Khongsai in a statement.

Mare is an alumnus of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla. He was commissioned in the flying branch of Indian Air Force as helicopter pilot on June 16, 1990.

The Officer is an experienced helicopter pilot with 6000 flying hours and has extensively flown in Northeast as well as Jammu & Kashmir sector in various operational roles.

He has undergone Staff Course at Defence Service Staff College, Wellington and Higher Command Course at Army War College, Mhow.

Air Commodore Mare has previously commanded an operational helicopter unit in Northeast and an air force station in Andaman & Nicobar Island.

The officer has also served in UN Mission in Democratic Republic of Congo.
