Music lovers will now get to enjoy their favourite Assamese folk melodies on the Over The Top (OTT) platform, Reeldrama.
Reeldrama released Sur Fiesta, a musical programme to Assamese folk songs and other melodies of yesteryears.
Reeldrama, the newly-launched OTT platform from Assam, hosts Assamese movies, web series, shows from the field of music, comedy, poetry, cookery, programmes for kids and devotion.
The first season of Sur Fiesta comprises of six songs which is a fusion of Assamese folk melodies and contemporary music.
Singers Rupam Bhuyan, Sarmistha Chakraborty, Birina Pathak, Arupjyoti Baruah, Nahid and Sannidhya have sung these numbers, while popular Assamese actress Barasha Rani Bishaya hosted the season.
Reeky Sharma who directed the musical show said, “My passion for music and selection of songs by Ambar Das inspired me to direct Sur Fiesta.”
“No doubt the outdoor shooting with changing light conditions was a big challenge, we have tried o capture the awe-inspiring greenery and nature of Assam in the videos,” Sharma said.
“In Sur Fiesta we have tried to keep the music very organic yet contemporary. The theme of this series is ‘Growing up in Assam’,” said Ambar Das, who arranged the songs for the series.
“The programme tries to break stereotypes and create something beautiful and enduring,” Das said.
The six songs have been recorded, mixed and mastered by lead guitarist Sumit Baruah.
The series also features Rishav Bhuyan in bass, Biraj Baishya on drums, Bidyut Bikash Bordoloi on percussions, nagara and dogor and Pradip Deka on the flute and saxophone.
