Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog has directed all government departments to submit lists of vacant posts in their respective departments.
She also asked the officials of the government departments to put forward suggestions of creating new posts apart from submitting lists of vacant posts.

The departments have been asked to submit the lists of vacant posts and suggestions for creation of new posts within four weeks.
After the departments submit the lists of vacant posts, they will be placed before Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for final approval.

Notably, the departments have informed Minister Ajanata Neog that as many as 80,000 vacant posts can be filled and many more can be created.
Ajanta Neog said the Home, Education and Health Departments will be given priority in the recruitment process, along with appointments in the newly-formed districts.
Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog also formed a core committee, headed by the chief secretary, to expedite the preliminary work in the entire exercise.
Ajanta Neog heads the State-level panel created to look into recruitment of one lakh youths in the State in one year.
