Guwahati: A special court is scheduled to hear the bail applications of Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora on Friday in connection with a disproportionate assets case registered by the Chief Minister’s Vigilance Cell.
The two accused, former bodyguards of late Assamese cultural icon Zubeen Garg, had sought bail after a case was registered against them over alleged possession of assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
The matter will come up before a Special Judge’s Court.
Baishya and Bora had earlier approached the Special Fast-Track Court seeking bail, but their applications were rejected. Following the rejection, both filed fresh bail petitions before the special court.
The case is being investigated by the Chief Minister’s Vigilance Cell, which is probing allegations of disproportionate assets against the two accused.
The court is expected to decide on the bail pleas after hearing arguments from both sides.
