Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday and discussed on various issues of the state.
Although there was no official communication over what transpired in the meeting, it is believed that Sonowal urged the PM to provide central funds for different developmental projects in the state.
It is learnt that issues of flood and erosion came up during the meeting.
Sonowal is also likely to meet union home minister Amit Shah, defence minister Rajnath Singh among others during his stay in the national capital.
Chief Minister Sonowal will attend Niti Aayog meeting scheduled to be held on Saturday.
Informing about his meeting with Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi, Sonowal on his Twitter handle on Tuesday stated that “meeting & listening to PM Narendra Modi” always inspires him.

“Meeting & listening to PM Shri @narendramodi ji has always been a huge source of inspiration and guidance for me,” tweeted Sonowal.
Stating that he extended greetings to Modi who has recently taken charge of as the PM for the second term, Sonowal said they had a discussion on the roadmap of Assam’s development.
Sonowal tweeted: “I extended him greetings on behalf of the people of Assam for his second tenure as India’s Prime Minister and discussed roadmap for Assam’s rapid development.”
