In a bid to bring both legislature and executive on a same plane of development agenda and strengthen the spirit of ‘Team Assam’, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal held a meeting with the newly-elected Members of Parliament and officers of Assam cadre at New Delhi on Wednesday.

Chief minister Sonowal said that for a government to run smoothly and enable it to transfer the fruits of governance to the people, both legislature and executive should work in tandem to complement each other and aid to the development of the state.

Sonowal also said that for a state like Assam to expedite its growth momentum the legislature and executive should lend strength to the spirit of ‘Team Assam’.

Their compatibility and coordination will send across a strong message of unity and harmony for the people of Assam to work on government’s growth agenda, he said.

He also appealed to the newly-elected MPs of the BJP and its allies to raise the issues that the state is confronting with in the well of the House.

Sonowal also said that the people of Assam have high hopes and being the people’s representative the MPs should work accordingly to fulfil the aspirations of the people. He also said that if the newly elected MPs and the officers of Assam cadre posted in New Delhi work in unison Assam’s interests will be safeguarded and the state can tread the path of development.

Chief minister Sonowal also said that ever since the BJP-led government has come to power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a new dimension to the development of Assam.

A new development narrative has been unleashed by way of Act East Policy and UDAN scheme. Under this changed development contour, Sonowal said that a new found synergy between the legislature and executive and ‘Team Assam’ spirit can take the state altogether to a new height.
