In a sensational incident at Majgari village in Baksa district under Tamulpur police station, a 65-year-old man was beaten to death by his eldest son on Wednesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Bhabesh Kalita.

As per reports, Kalita got into a heated argument with his eldest son Jatin Kalita over some family dispute on Wednesday evening.

When matters turned ugly, Jatin hit his father with a stick.

Even though the sexagenarian immediately fell to the ground, Jatin, however, beat him continuously till death.

Later, taking help of darkness Jatin managed to escape from the spot.

Except for late Kalita’s wife, no one else was present at home during the time of the incident.

On receiving the information about the murder, a team of Gandhibari police out-post rushed to the spot and sent the body to Mushalpur for post mortem.

An FIR has been registered against fugitive Jatin Kalita in Tamulpur police station.

Till the filing of this report, Jatin was still on the run and the police have initiated an investigation into the case.
