Two youths looting money at gun point from two bank employees at Tamulpur in Baksa district of Assam on Tuesday has created widespread sensation in the town.
As per reports, Sonmoni Kalita and Bhaskar Sarma of the Northeast Small Finance Bank Limited of Tulshibari branch in Kamrup district were returning from Oukhari Village at around 4:30 pm riding pillion on a scooty (bearing the Registration No – AS-01-DL-9716) after collecting a “huge amount of interest money” from consumers against loan given.
As the duo reached Kekerikuchi, two youths riding pillion on a black Pulsar reportedly waylaid them and took away the bag containing Rs 8,080.00 at gun point. The miscreants then fled from the spot. Luckily, the bank employees had separately kept Rs 80,000 “hidden tactfully inside the scooty”.
As soon as news of the loot spread like wild fire, Rajen Boro, In-charge of Gandhibari Police Outpost, reached the spot with his team and started investigation into the incident. The bank employees have lodged an FIR at the Tamulpur Police Station and a case has been registered. The Tamulpur Police is hot on the heels of the miscreants but no arrests have been made till the time of filing of this report.
