The Assam cricket team thrashed Mizoram by 131 runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 Cricket championship held at Cuttack on Saturday.
According to a match report published by The Sentinel, good show by top order batsmen helped the Assam cricket team to pile up a huge 201-4 in their 20 overs. The Assam team restricted Mizoram to 70-6 in their 20 overs.
Assam, who were first invited to bat, made a good start in the game.
Pallav Kumar Das and Rishav Das – the openers for the Assam cricket team – earned 79 runs within 8 overs of the match.
While batsman Pallav Kumar Das was able to score 43 runs from 24 balls with the help of five boundaries and one six, his opening partner Rishav Das followed him.
Keeping the hope of the Assam team alive, Rishav Das was able to complete his half century in the game.
Batsman Rishav Das was able to score 56 runs from a total of 42 balls from Mizoram bowlers.
Rishav Das piled up his runs with seven hits to the fence.
Later, batsman Riyan Parag came for batting at number three, just toyed with Mizoram bowlers.
Riyan Parag hit six boundaries and two huge sixes and had remained unbeaten at 63.
After Assam, the Mizoram team started batting but their batsmen failed to face the Assam bowlers.
According to the report, Mizoram lost the first wicket when the score was only 5.
After that, the Mizoram team continued to lose their wickets on regular interval.
They were able to manage scoring just 70-6 in their 20 overs and lost to Assam.
Abu Nechim Ahmed and Jitumoni Kalita picked up two wickets each, says the report.
