The Assam Congress will include the problems of the tea community in the State in the party’s manifesto for the Assembly elections in the State.
This was informed by Assam Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi on Sunday.
Gaurav Gogoi made this statement while interacting with the tea community leaders at the Asom Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) office at Titabar in Jorhat district.
“Interacted with tea community leaders at ACMS Office, Titabar, hearing out their concerns and assuring that Congress Party will take cognisance of their problems and they shall be included in the manifesto to be resolved once Congress forms the Government,” said Gaurav Gogoi.
Notably, the Congress has ‘guaranteed’ hike in the daily wages of the tea workers in Assam up to Rs 365.
Hike in the daily wages of the tea workers of Assam is one of the five ‘guarantees’ that the Assam Congress is banking on to win the ensuing Assam Assembly elections and wrest the State from the ruling BJP.
Earlier, Assam Congress chief Ripun Bora had said the party “will fix the daily wage of Assam tea workers at Rs 365 within 30 days of coming to power”.
On the other hand, The ACMS has been demanding hike in minimum wages of the tea garden workers up to Rs 351.
