Sensation prevailed at Panjabari area of Guwahati on Wednesday after unidentified miscreants attacked a mother-daughter duo with sharp weapons on Tuesday night.
The miscreants armed with sharp weapons entered the residence of Urvasi Koibatra and attacked her along with her daughter Thapona Koibatra.
The incident took place at around 9:30 pm on Tuesday night near the Ganesh Mandir.
Both the mother and the daughter who had sustained serious injuries were rushed to GNRC Hospital at Dispur.
However, the mother succumbed to her injuries later in the hospital.

Locals have said that a group of miscreants entered the house and carried out the attack.
Meanwhile, Satgaon police have begun investigation into the incident.
On the other hand, according to family sources, the daughter has identified the group of miscreants who attacked her and her mother.
According to her the group of attackers consisted of four members including two women.
Meanwhile, police have arrested two of the attackers while two others are on the run.
According to the brother of the deceased, the miscreants had demanded a sum of Rs 10 lakhs from the victim family.
The attack was executed as the family failed to pay the demanded money.
The daughter is recuperating at the GNRC Hospital in Dispur at the time of filing this report and is reported to be out of danger.
