Sensation prevailed across Kokrajhar district of Assam on Thursday after three persons of the same family, including a minor, were hacked to death.
The gory triple murder took place at at Mukigaon village under Fakiragram police station in Kokrajhar on Wednesday night.
Unidentified assailants hacked to death with sharp weapon a couple identified as Tripal Roy, aged around 34 years and his wife Morami Roy, aged around 25 years along with their three years old minor girl child identified as Anjumoni Roy at their residence in the village.
However, the elder daughter of the victim couple, Kabita Roy, aged around six years and studying at the lower primary school of Mukigaon miraculously escaped the attack.
Talking to reporters, DSP Punit Nath said that the police received information about the triple murder early Thursday morning from the gounbura (village headman) of Mokigaon that three persons from a family were killed by unknown miscreants and that the bodies were lying down in their house.
He said that as soon as they got the information, police rushed to the incident spot.
Though massive hunt has been launched by the police, even using sniffer dogs, the culprits are still on the run.
Parents of Morami Roy said that they did not have any enemy and that their daughter’s family lived a simple life by doing daily wage labour.
Meanwhile, locals have put pressure on the police to nab the culprits at the earliest and demanded exemplary punishment for those found guilty of the heinous crime.
