A primary school teacher at Demow in Sivasagar district of Assam allegedly committed suicide after not being able to use a government mobile application.

Earlier in an order issued by the Assam government, the usage of the RIIMS App was made mandatory for the teaching staff of the government run schools.

The app is based on artificial intelligence and is used to monitor the attendance of the teachers of the schools. Apart from this, the app also maintains a database of students and teachers.

The deceased was identified as Kali Prasad Chetia.

He was reported to be the headmaster of the Lakhimi Pathar LP School in Demow.

He had allegedly hung himself to the ceiling in one of the classrooms in the school.

Locals said that Chetia had faced some issues regarding the application.

He was said to have been worried about his financial condition as the government in the notification regarding the application said that salaries would be affected of those who would fail to install the application.
