Health Minister Keshab Mahanta on Tuesday said that there will be no more lockdown in Assam.

Speaking about the COVID-19 situation Mahanta said, “Assam is prepared for the Omicron variant of the virus and new SOPs or guidelines will be announced only if Omicron cases are tracked in the state.

He added adequate steps are being taken to contain the cases and strict measures are being taken places where the cases seem to be on the rise.

He further added, “There won’t be any lockdowns in the state but at the same time, we will have to parallelly live with the virus following all safety norms.”

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier announced that the Assam government will not issue any new COVID-19 SOPs stating that the situation in the state is under control.\

Chief Minister Sarma said that the situation in Assam as of now is under control and the government has not considered any sort of new SOPs.
