Renowned Assamese film actor Guna Mahanta, who had acted in a couple of films and Tv serials in his career, passed away in Nagaon on Monday.
Family sources said he died on the way to a hospital in Nagaon. Mahanta, who had been suffering from heart disease and neurological disorder for last few years, was brought to GD hospital in Nagaon when his condition turned critical this morning.

Mahanta, who was 70, is survived by his wife and huge number of fans and well wishers.
Mahanta acted in more than 50 Assamese films and TV serials including Munin Barua’s Kanyadaan, Jatin Bora’s Adhinayak (2006), Ujonir Dujoni Gavoru (2003).
Condoling his death, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that Assamese cinema has lost a great actor.

His contribution to the growth and development of Assamese cinema will be always remembered, Sonowal said.
