Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday lashed out at former Congress president Rahul Gandhi for terming CAB as an attempt by the BJP government to ethnically cleanse the Northeast.
According to Sarma, Gandhi is an ‘esteemed’ leader who is delusional and dishonest.
In a tweet, Sarma thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit for addressing the ‘concerns’ of the northeast.
He claimed that ‘citizens and civil society’ is supporting the BJP government.
“This ‘esteemed’ leader is a deadly combination of delusion and dishonesty. Thanks to the sensitivity of PM @narendramodi and HM @AmitShah, concerns of Northeast have been addressed,” Sarma tweeted.

Rahul Ji are you aware that during @INCIndia regime indigenous communities of Assam have become minority. Infilitrated Bangladeshi Muslims in Assam constitutes 36% of population. They speak no Assamese language & influence 45 assembly seats. Is that not ALSO ethnic cleansing? https://t.co/RMcCGTkM0q
