Assam Congress MLA from the Raha constituency Sashi Kanta Das has been rumored to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) soon.
Several reports claimed that the MLA might join the BJP after he had a brief meeting with the Assam Chief Minister.

However, after the meeting, Sashi Kanta Das speaking to the media denied the claims.

He said that he had only met Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over certain development projects related to his constituency and he was still a member of the Congress.

Das added, “Meeting the CM of the state does not mean I will join the BJP. I met him because I want development in my constituency.”
He added that just because he was from the opposition no rule bars him from meeting the CM.
He also added that the meeting with the CM was fixed by his “friend” Pijush Hazarika.
