The written test for recruitment of sub-inspector (SI) of police (UB) in Assam Police, scheduled to be held from 12 pm on Sunday, has been cancelled due to leakage of the question paper.

The decision to cancel the test has been taken as the question paper for the written test, to be conducted by the State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB), was leaked through social media in the morning on Sunday, said sources.

The first advertisement for the recruitment of sub-inspectors against 597 vacant posts was published on November 4, 2018.

On November 6, 2019, another notice/corrigendum was issued by the State Level Police Recruitment Board.

Assam Police have already started an investigation into the incident of question paper leakage, sources said.

The news of the cancellation of the test has depressed the aspiring candidates, who prepared for the examination.

They have expressed their reactions on social media.

The State Level Police Recruitment Board is yet to fix the next date for the written test.

A few days back, a number of youths landed in police net after an audio clip of demanding an amount of Rs 4 lakh for recruitment in the post went viral.

The police arrested the kingpin in the racket, Manoj Tamuli, from Lakhimpur on September 12, 2020.
