The Nagaland Directorate of School Education on Thursday directed all individuals, societies and organisations running private schools, including pre-primary schools, without obtaining permission from the State School Education Department to close down their schools immediately.

In a notification, the directorate said it was brought to the notice of the department that a few individuals, societies and organisations are still running schools without obtaining prior permission from it.

It has also given a one-time opportunity to all individuals, societies and organisations running pre-primary schools without the permission of the department to apply for permission in the prescribed format made available at https://education.nagaland.gov.in  within 15 days from the date of issue of this notification.

No application will be accepted for granting ex post facto permission to pre-primary schools after the expiry of the grace period, it said.

The directorate said the one-time measure is applicable only to pre-primary schools and stringent punitive measures will be initiated against those running other levels of schools without prior permission from the department.
