The two arrested by Dhubri Police. Northeast Now

Dhubri Police on Friday late night arrested two persons for allegedly betting on an IPL match at the residence of one Bascha of Natabari Part I village under Tamarhat Police Station of Dhubri district.

Police said that the bookies were caught red-handed while betting and many documents and other materials used for betting were recovered from their possession and seized.

Accordingly, a case has been registered in this connection in relevant sections under the Gambling Act at Tamarhat Police Station and the duo accused was forwarded to judicial custody.

The arrested have been identified as 38-year-old Azgar Ali, son of Hasen Ali Sk, who is a resident of Bherbari village under Tamarhat PS while the other has been identified as 62-year-old Jugal Kishore Saha, son of Lt Suklal Saha, a resident of Natabari Part I village under the same police station of Dhubri district.

A joint operation team comprising police personnel of Tamarhat PS  and Gauripur PS successfully conducted the raid and busted the betting racket.
