Irina Hazarika Barua, who started running from Tezpur to Guwahati in the first edition of the Spirit of Pinkathon run, completed 55 km on Thursday.

The Spirit of Pinkathon run was flagged at 6.15 am at Tezpur by Pinkathon mentor Milind Soman.

Pinkathon ambassador Ankita Konwar was also there to support Irina.

Fifty-year-old Irina stopped running for the day at 5 pm near Nagaon town as it was dark.

She will halt in Nagaon for the night and start running again at 5 in the morning on Friday.

According to sources, Irina will halt at Jagiroad on Friday night.

She will start running again from Jagiroad on Saturday and reach her destination, Guwahati, covering a distance of 160 kms from Tezpur to Guwahati.

In a video uploaded on Facebook, Irina said, “I had targeted 60 km today, but I could do only 55 km for today. I started at 6.15 (am) and ended at 5.15 (pm).”

She said, “In 11 hours (including 2 hours of lunch), I completed 55 kms.”

In another video, Irina said, “Hi everyone, I am very excited. I have just completed full marathon (42.195 km).  I will halt at Nagaon tonight.”

Irina completed a full marathon distance of 42 kms, not having taken a halt since breakfast.

It was a scorching day but an indomitable Irina succeffully completed the full marathon as she is in great form, both physically and mentally.

Her running journey started in 2015 when she heard that Pinkathon mentor Milind Soman was bringing Pinkathon to Guwahati.

She started with a mere 200 metres, trained for 5 kms and registered for 10 kms, which she successfully completed in Pinkathon Guwahati 2015.

There has been no looking back for this strong woman, who moved to the half marathon distance by 2016 and graduated to 12 hour ultra runs by August 2018.

Irina has completed several Mekhela Sador runs and the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2019 barefoot.

Irina credits Pinkathon with bringing tremendous changes in her lifestyle and health.

This has percolated to her personal life, where she now has the willpower and mental strength to deal with any kind of stress.
