A man was shot during a clash with the Police personnel during the first phase of Assam Panchayat poll on Wednesday.

The shocking incident took place at Habichuk in Habial village under Golaghat district of Assam.

The injured person was identified as Gyanendra Rajkhuwa.

According to reports, the man had attacked the voters with a hacksaw and created  ruckus near a polling station at Habial village. The man also tried to attack the police personnel.

“He was carrying a hacksaw, situation compelled us to fire on him as he attacked four persons with the sword”, said the police.
