On the first day of 2022, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that former Chief Ministers in Assam will no longer be entitled to security cover or a government house.
Speaking to media persons, Sarma said that from the next term onwards, former Chief Ministers will be not provided with security cover unless there is a real threat to the concerned person.
He added that a review will be held on the threats and based on that, the former CMs will get the security cover and there will be no room for the facility just because he or she had held the office.
